The Fred Berry Conservation Education Center (851 Conservation Lane in Yellville, Arkansas) on Crooked Creek is located on 421 acres in the Ozarks in a 2.75-mile bend near Yelville, Arkansas. Opened in 2005, it is one of four Conservation Education Centers run by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The area is open to walking visitors from sunrise to sunset all year long. The office, building, and parking lots are open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday unless there is a holiday.
The Fred Berry Conservation Education Center offers many educational programs and includes a classroom, wet lab, Ozark garden, wildlife viewing area, and camping area. Over 100 species of birds have been seen from the nearly six miles of nature trails, as well as different mammals that are common to the Ozarks. In addition, there is an onsite 3-D archery range, with beginning and advanced challenges available by appointment. The center is on the shore of Crooked Creek, which is an 80-mile tributary of the White River. Crooked Creek is known as one of the best fishing areas in Arkansas especially for smallmouth bass.
