Lake Leatherwood is located near Eureka Spring, Arkansas. It is an 85-acre lake created by the largest hand cut limestone dam in the United States. The lake is located within Lake Leatherwood City Park (1303 County Road 204 in Eureka Springs). The park has no entrance fee and its facilities will provide for all of your fishing needs. In order to fish within the state of Arkansas, a fishing license is required. A resident of Arkansas can purchase a license for $10.50 for the year or $6.50 for 3 days. Non-residents can choose between $40.00 for an annual license and $11.00 for a 3-day license. In addition, a boat launch permit may be purchased, either for a day ($2) or for the year ($30). Paddle boats can be rented for $6 per hour (small size) and $10 per hour (large size). Canoes, kayaks, and row boats can also be rented for $7.50 per hour or $25 for 6 hours. Lastly, to round out your fishing needs, a fishing pole can be rented for the day for $5 and night crawlers can be purchased to use as bait for $2.79/dozen.
Lake Leatherwood has a healthy fish population that includes blue gill, largemouth bass, and channel catfish. From your fishing location, whether it is a boat or at the lake edge, you will be able to see numerous waterfowl and birds such as wild turkey, herons, geese, and even bald eagles. In addition to fishing, the Lake Leatherwood City Park has numerous activities and offers visitors the option to rent cabins or campsites during their stay in this beautiful area.
